It is a challenge for businesses to integrate to multiple telecommunication companies (telcos) across Africa in order to provide their services on multiple offline/2G channels (SMS, USSD, Voice, Airtime, Mobile Money) across countries, to their customers.
Africa’s Talking (AT), takes away the complexity of multiple integrations in Africa, starting in Nairobi, and ensures regulatory compliance by integrating with the different telcos and providing a unified platform that can be consumed by anyone.
We invite you to fireside chat with Dr. Mary Okello an accomplished retired banker, founder of Makini School and Kenya Women Finance Trust.
Dr. Mary Okelo a retired banker, educationist, entrepreneur and gender rights crusader with vast and diverse experience in local and international finance, micro-enterprise, and international service in the public, private and NGO sectors.
"I hold a ladder for women to climb up" Mary Okelo
She will be hosted by one and only Dr. Leyla Sirad Hussein Gikandi OBE.
Leyla Hussein is a consultant, psychotherapist, and international lecturer on Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and gender rights. She currently works as the Global Advocacy Director and Deputy Team Leader of the Africa-led Movement to End FGM, fighting to eliminate violence against women and girls. In October 2020, Leyla was elected to become the first Black female Rector of the University of St Andrews and now works closely with a team of student activists to fight for more access, action, and accountability in higher education.
She is the founder of both the Dahlia Project, a specialist psychotherapeutic and counseling service for survivors of FGM, and Magool, an organisation promoting the rights and wellbeing of women and girls. Leyla is very experienced in the provision of safeguarding training to activists, wellbeing professionals, and others who confront the physical, psychological, and social implications of violence in their work. In 2020, Leyla co-founded Safe Spaces for Black Women alongside Fatima Hagi to create an emotional support and wellbeing community for Black women around the world.
Leyla's work has been presented at Oxford, Cambridge, UCL, Leeds, Exeter, and many Ivy league universities across the US. She is also a published writer, holding her own pages with the Huffington Post, Global Citizen, Cosmopolitan Magazine and The Guardian.
