About this event

#BuildwithAT #WeloveNerds

Join us at the Africa's Talking Open Hackathon on Financial Inclusion on Thursday 25th January . Come build with us, connect with fellow developers over drinks, delicious food, present feature request, give feedback or just contribute to our open source API's and SDKs.

In a world where economic opportunities are abundant, financial inclusion stands as a critical driver for positive change. The need for financial inclusion arises from the undeniable truth that access to basic financial services is not a privilege but a fundamental right. By extending financial services to marginalized and underserved communities, we empower individuals, fostering economic growth and stability. It's about breaking down barriers, ensuring equal access to financial resources, and creating a more inclusive global economy. Join us on this hackathon where collective efforts can spark innovations that bridge gaps and uplift communities, contributing to a brighter and more equitable future.

Here's a breakdown of how each API can be used:

  • USSD API: This can be utilized to create applications that enable financial institutions searches, inquiries, or transactions via USSD codes. This is especially useful in regions with limited internet access, allowing broader reach and accessibility in the financial market.
  • SMS API: The SMS API can be instrumental in sending real-time notifications, updates on transactions, or alerts. This provides a simple and effective way to keep users informed.
  • Airtime and Data: This API could be used to reward users who engage with the financial platform, such as by rewarding them with airtime or data packages, referring new users, or completing certain actions within the app.
  • Voice API: The Voice API can be integrated to facilitate real-time voice communications between customer service and customers. It can also be used for automated voice notifications or surveys to collect feedback from users.

Overall, these APIs, your innovation and other existing technology will offer a powerful toolkit for hackathon participants to create innovative solutions that address various challenges in the financial Inclusion and institutions space, enhancing the efficiency, accessibility, and user experience in the financial market.
